Achieving Reliability Excellence is an important goal for any company. It can be a difficult and time-consuming journey, having to deal with many roadblocks and setbacks. One of the most important parts in the journey is to focus on sustainable solutions, to ensure continuous improvements are integrated into the reliability and maintenance programs.
For example, establishing a basic condition-based maintenance program can be relatively easy. Even if no in-house expertise exists, vendors that can perform CbM surveys, such as thermography or ultrasonic, are easily available. Installation of simple vibrating sensors on rotating assets has become easier as well. The difficulty and complexity start when we want to ensure continuous improvement and refinement of the maintenance strategies over time. Additionally, assets in the pharma and biotech industry pose a unique challenge in that the maintenance strategies can vary greatly, and different methods need to be used in combination to achieve the desired reliability.
In this presentation, I will discuss BMS Devens’ approach to identifying and implementing sustainable solutions for improving the CbM/PdM programs, as well as talk about the company’s approach to achieve Reliability Excellence across the network.
This presentation covers:
Sabine Remick leads the BMS Systems Lifecycle Engineering Team at the Devens, Massachusetts campus. The primary role of the team is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the business, causing delays of lifesaving medication to patients. This includes management of the site’s condition-based maintenance programs and improving M&R processes to achieve, and maintain, Reliability Excellence across the entire campus.
Sabine has over 20 years of experienced in chemical and reliability engineering, safety, health, and environmental protection within the specialty chemical, governmental, pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Sabine has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration. In her free time, she likes to read, exercise, and go on nature walks or bike rides with her husband.
