Søren Skerris is Associate Director, within Process automation at Fujifilm Biotechnologies. He holds a master’s degree in robotics and autonomous systems from DTU and has been with Fujifilm Biotechnologies for 11+ years. The first ~8 years were spent within the DCS world, implementing a modularized and multi product approach, Activity-based recipes, Critical process parameter monitoring and other control concepts. The past ~4 years, Søren has functioned as technical lead and owner of the implementation of a cutting edge and fully parametrized MES implementation and a custom developed configuration platform, binding the DCS and MES product configuration together into one system. Søren currently lives in Holly springs, NC, USA as part of an expat program and will be returning back to the Hillerød Site in Denmark in the summer of 2027.

Unlock modular manufacturing with an activity driven recipe architecture and parameter management framework for flexible, product-agnostic MES and DCS integration. This framework supports a parameter-driven sequence of activities using a modular MES approach. Parameters are managed through a web-based tool, empowering data owners to maintain recipe parameters efficiently. The recipes are designed to be activity-focused and product-agnostic. By employing a sequencer-based approach, this architecture minimizes changes to the DeltaV Batch system, facilitating faster introduction of new products. This flexible recipe design simplifies and streamlines the tech transfer process, making it more effective. In this session, you will learn how to:
